In December 2023, Brandyn’s life changed forever. He was working as a US Postal worker when his postal truck was struck by another vehicle going 70mph. Brandyn had a Glascow Coma Scale rating of 3, with a severe traumatic brain injury, and multiple other injuries. His acute rehabilitation was extensive and in April 2024, he joined our program. He arrived in a wheelchair, unable stand even with a walker, not oriented, and had poor cognitive and speech abilities.
Brandyn aspires to be a coach, as he was very involved in athletics throughout his school years. With his fiancé and 3-year-old son by his side, Brandyn began his journey with our therapists to focus on his physical, cognitive, social deficits, and life transitions.
As of 90-days after admission, Brandyn is consistently walking independently with a standard cane and occasionally with no devices at all. His cognition and social skills have improved as well, as he has been able to plan, arrange, and attend several outings in the community, like seeing the new Spiderman movie!
Brandyn is an inspiration to other participants and staff members! He spreads his positive outlook to others as he encourages them to perform to the best of their ability. He is constantly spreading love and cheer to all. We look forward to his progress over the next 90-days; stay tuned for an update on his story.
