Patient Gardening Again After Stroke

“The NEUBIE* has been a game changer for me, as well as the coaching to address ‘bad habits’ I’d learned between my last round of therapy and now.” – Janice

“I had my stroke in July 2021, and went to a different clinic for my physical and occupational therapies until I came to Level Eleven for speech therapy in 2022. It helped tremendously, but I’d already used up my visits for physical and occupational therapies for the year.

I came to Level Eleven due to the pain in my left arm in 2023; had physical therapy to focus on my shoulder and occupational therapy to work on my hand. The pain and tightness have almost completely gone away since starting back, and I’m doing many more tasks with my dominant hand than I’d been able to do before. I’d recommend Level Eleven to anyone going through a stroke!” – Janice, L11 Patient

The goal Janice was hoping to accomplish while at Level Eleven was to pull weeds from her garden, be able to put earrings on by herself, to gain better use of her left hand, as well as regain some fine motor skills. After a few months of therapies, Janice is now pulling weeds to prepare the garden for spring and is opening and closing her necklace backs. She is continuing to work on earring placement – as it’s hard to see behind your ear!
