“My Three Best Friends“: The Bonds Behind One Recovery Journey

Leaving inpatient rehab and going home after a stroke can feel overwhelming. For one patient, the transition brought a wave of fear and nerves, especially with so many unknowns ahead. Kevin M. suffered a stroke and described feeling unsure of what life at home would look like and whether recovery would continue once the hospital stay ended.

That uncertainty transformed into hope once he discovered and began services at Rehab Without Walls and connected with his care team.

The Power of Collaborative Care
A cornerstone of Kevin’s experience was the feeling that everyone was connected. A team of our professionals, including an executive director, dietician, physical therapist (PT) occupational therapist (OT), and speech-language pathologist (SLP), helped change Kevin’s life. He developed a relationship with each of them that kept him positive during the journey of discovering his new normal.

A Journey Built on Trust and Hope
Kevin refers to his PT, OT, and SLP as his three best friends, sharing, “These three ladies have instilled the confidence in me that I will get better, I won’t be in pain, and I will be able to live a life again. The positivity that these women bring in everyday life, let alone sessions, is amazing and inspiring… If it weren’t for my three best friends, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I hope Rehab Without Walls realizes how lucky they are with having such superstar employees that represent their company.”
