The Power of Individualized, Real-World Rehabilitation

Residential patient, Steven P., first came to RWW after he suffered a head injury from falling off a roof while working on a ranch he managed in south Texas.
The San Marcos, Texas, team of dedicated therapists focused on his deficits in cognitive functioning, attention, memory, speed of processing, his decreased lower right extremity strength, balance, coordination, reaction time, and endurance. These deficits impacted on his ability to complete dual tasking with cognitive and physical expectations, such as skills required to complete job duties in environments with a high level of distraction and the need for divided attention.
Steven’s therapy consisted of real-world activities out in his community such as attending a local horseback riding therapy program, painting walls for a new sensory room, completing backyard roping practice, bowling, and even having a therapy session during his own discharge party!
