Courtnie was a typical sixteen year old—she was bright, enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend, and dreamed of playing sports and going to college. But in December 2020, it seemed those dreams had come to an end when the car accident that killed her boyfriend left Courtnie in a coma. She had a severe brain injury with intracranial hemorrhages, a diffuse axonal injury and bilateral frontal contusions in addition to multiple severe orthopedic injuries. But Courtnie, her family and her Rehab Without Walls team worked hard—and today, she’s playing high school sports and has been accepted into her dream college.
