Meet Bobby, a 26-year-old who sustained a spinal cord injury following a serious motor vehicle accident in November 2025, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
After a prolonged hospital stay and participating in an inpatient rehabilitation program, he was discharged home and began working with Rehab Without Walls in January 2026.
At the start of care, Bobby faced significant challenges with everyday activities. He relied on family members to assist him with all daily tasks and mobility, creating both physical and emotional challenges for Bobby and his loved ones.
Today, Bobby has made incredible progress. Through consistent hard work and a personalized rehabilitation program, he has developed strength in his arms, legs, and core. He can now sit at the edge of his bed unsupported, participate in transfers and standing, perform self-care activities, and take steps with body weight support.
His rehabilitation has included a variety of individualized interventions, including transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation, progressive strength and balance training, and neuromuscular re-education. His team has helped to identify and implement equipment to support his safety and independence at home, including obtaining the appropriately sized hospital bed, a specialized air mattress, standing frame, and assisting with modifications to his power wheelchair.
We are incredibly proud of how far Bobby has come and are excited to continue supporting him as he works towards his goals.
